To save time and to help make the most of your first session please print and complete the New Client Paperwork and bring it with you to your appointment.
All communications between client and counselor is generally considered to be confidential and therefore is protected by law. That means Dr. Maloney cannot and will not reveal to anyone what you have discussed or that you are working with a counselor without your permission. There are some circumstances where there are exceptions to this where she will be required by law to disclose confidential information. These exceptions are detailed in the Disclosure Statment in the New Client Paperwork.
Of course you are free to discuss with anyone you wish that you are in counseling and request that Dr. Maloney share information with another provider (physican, previous counselor, school staff member) or individual by signing the Release Form found in the New Client Paperwork, knowing that you can revoke that permission in writing at any time. For more information on your privacy rights please read the HIPPA Privacy Rights information provided in the New Client Paperwork.
